Abandoned baby found in hospital parking lot

What police believe to be an abandoned baby boy was found in the back of a pickup truck outside Bangkok Hospital on the island of Phuket this week. The baby was discovered by Dr. Nat Tantipipat, who found the baby in a red basket wrapped in a blanket on Monday morning. The doctor told the press that it was obvious that the baby had been born sometime early that morning, but upon closer inspection he found that it had not been delivered in the hospital as the umbilical cord had not been properly cut. The doctor also said, “Even though he had been wrapped up, he had many mosquito bites on his arms.�

The baby is being kept in an incubator until arrangements can be made for transfer to the Banpadek children’s hospice, whose doctors have already submitted a report of the incident to Phuket Police.
